Kemensah Waterfall Trip

Kemensah waterfall is located at Ulu Klang outskirt just behind the Zoo Negara. To get there, follow the MR2 ring road then take the junction at Zoo negara. Follow the road until you reach at the end of the road. You will reach Institut Budaya Baru Melayu. Ask the guards for permission to visit the waterfalls and park your car there.

The trip started with me and Razak at about 8.30 morning. To get to the waterfall it took about 45 minute. We planned to take a macro shoot all the way until we reached the waterfall. Along the way we met a few guys that were going to the same destination.

There were 3 waterfalls at this route. The trail was not that hard as there were signposts pointing the way.

Gubang Gajah Waterfall & Ray of light

As we walked the sound of water became more distinct. We finally reached at the 1st waterfalls. It was called Gubang Gajah. It was attractively breathtaking ! A huge well maintained waterfall with a cascades at the bottom. Unfortunately, you can’t swim here.

We met a few groups here. Brader with Leica lens, modeling photo shoot group and the group that we met along the way. We chatted and exchanged knowledge about photography.

At first, me and Razak planned to call it off as we were rushing to take photos of Le Tour De Langkawi at KL. But by looking at the time, we were late for that event. So we decided to join the group to the 2nd waterfalls.

The next journey took another 1 hour. This time there was no proper trail, just follow the stream in reverse. It was all wet and slippery walk. And yes, leeches walk ! Don’t be surprise there were 5 – 6 leeches on the foot ! And 1 even made it to my neck ! eewww !

For 1 hour adventurous walk, we were lucky to have made it at the 2nd waterfall. It is called Lata Sham. Not as big as the first one but good enough for photography. Razak even took a chance to swim.

Next, we were aiming for the 3rd waterfall. The 3rd waterfall took another 1 hour. We were exhausted so decided to end the journey here. We didn’t want to take the risk. We walked back to the entrance safely. The journey ended at 4 pm. We drove to the nearby McDonald’s restaurant for some refreshment.

Water Droplets in Macro Photography

Water Drop Macro, originally uploaded by Faiz.

Water Droplets experiment using 1 speedlight

Taken using 50mm + ET + Nissin Speedlight

Strobe Info : 1/32 at Camera left

I am quite happy with the result, not so sharp but its there. I will try more on the tricks of lighting and colors. Patience is the key to photograph this water’s droplet.

I definitely have to setup it again and shot a thousand more photos ;-)

Feeling Blue

Feeling Blue 2

Alpha linked with Beta Fighter.

The VFB-9 Beta Fighter is based on the AB-01 Tread Armo-Bomber from the anime series Genesis Climber Mospeada. It is a large aerospacecraft capable of making orbit on the brute-force power of its three huge rocket engines. The VBF-9 is rather unaerodynamic, flying on the “brick with giant engines” principle. Its huge size and slender wings give it an extremely high wing loading, degrading its performance further – in terms of combat use, the Beta is a giant missile truck and little more in fighter configuration. In Battloid mode, the Beta is a hulking, powerful combatant with an impressive array of weapons including three heavy beam guns in each forearm and several missile launchers. The Beta’s third configuration is a VTOL and walking configuration. – Wiki

Feeling Blue 1

Beta Fighter in Batteloid Mode and Missile bay open.

The Beta has the unique ability to dock with an Alpha Fighter (the AFC-01 Legioss Armo-Fighter in Mospeada), combining the two into a larger combat unit. The Beta fighter provides additional fuel for a docked Alpha and gives it the necessary thrust for reaching orbit. Beta Fighters were used as unmanned boosters for their smaller Alpha brethren.

Rejected Photo from Shutterstock

Hello everybody

I want to share my experience here. I was basically trying to get initial approval with Shutterstock and failing badly! . This is my 2nd time submitting photos at shutterstock.

I know some of you are experts with a lot of success and experience of these sites. Why are my images being rejected by shutterstock? Are they just not very good?

I welcome any constructive critique.
